Présentation : La chanson a d'abord été enregistrée par Jennifer Warnes sur son album Famous Blue Raincoat en 1986, qui était entièrement composé de chansons écrites ou coécrites par Leonard Cohen.
Cohen reprendra ce titre en enregistrant une version synthpop pour son album I'm Your Man, sorti en 1988. Cette version figure au générique de fin du film Watchmen, les gardiens, en 2009, dans une version raccourcie.
I'm your man est considéré comme l'album retour de Leonard Cohen après le relatif échec de Various Positions, en 1984.

Leonard Cohen, désolé, que c'est chiant ! Les textes sont impec' mais à écouter, ouh la la, quel pensum !

    Rhooo, tu es dur, K&B, là il a fait l'effort de se payer un petit synthé pour faire plus moderne et guilleret ! Pour ma part je suis fan du bonhomme et de sa musique, et cet album, par lequel je l'ai découvert comme beaucoup de monde (quoique non, ma mère avait acheté « Songs of… », son premier, celui où il y a « Suzanne » et je l'avais beaucoup écouté petit) reste un de mes préférés.
