Arthur William Matthew "Art" Carney, né le 4 novembre 1918 à Mount Vernon (New York) et décédé le 9 novembre 2003 à Chester (Connecticut), est un comique américain ayant exercé ses talents comme acteur de cinéma et de théâtre, chanteur ou animateur de radio.
Durant la seconde guerre mondiale il a servi dans l'armée américaine et a participé à la bataille de Normandie en juin 1944, au cours de laquelle il fût gravement blessé à une jambe, blessure dont il gardera des séquelles toute sa vie.

Art Carney jouait à l'époque le rôle d'Ed Norton, un employé du service des égouts de New York, dans ce qui deviendra l'année suivante, la série The Honeymooners. C'est d'ailleurs cette série qui a servi d'inspiration pour les Pierrafeu.
