La chanson "Sad movies (make me cry)" a été créée par Sue Thompson et reprise concomitamment par les Lennon Sisters.
La version française "Quand le film est triste" a été interprétée par Pierrette Bruno puis reprise par Dany Fisher (Jean-Pierre Cardo), par Sylvie Vartan et par Michèle Richard. Une version modernisée sera chantée en 1982 par 2 Belgen.
En danois, "En sørgelig film" est interprété par Dorthe (Kollo) alors qu'en néerlandais, "Ik moet altijd huilen om een trieste film" sera chanté par Greetje Mona puis par Bob Smit.
En portugais "Filme triste" a été interprété par Demétrius, par Sueli et par Sandy e Junior.
La version allemande, "Ich muss im Kino weinen" a été chantée par Gitte Mona alors qu'en espagnol, Gloria Benavides interprète "Las peliculas tristes me hacen llorar".
Pour ma part, je connaissais cette chanson pour la reprise qu'en a fait Boney M. comme antépénultière titre de leur cinquième album, « Boonoonoonoos ». Et logiquement, je préfère la version qui me l'a fait découvrir.
